Pakistan wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider is set to return home on April 24

Former Pakistan wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider is set to return home on April 24 after withdrawing his application for the UK asylum. He had filed the application after fleeing Pakistan’s one-day squad which was playing South Africa in UAE because of  alleged death threats last November.

British daily ‘The Guardian’ said his return home could set the scene for a probable return to international cricket following assurances about his safety by Interior Minister Rahman Malik whom he met earlier this month in London.
The 24-year-old wicketkeeper scored 88 on his Test debut against England at Trent Bridge last summer.
The Pakistan Cricket Board terminated Haider’s contract and banned him for life. The Pakistan team are currently in the Caribbean preparing for one-day and Test series against West Indies with an uncapped wicketkeeper, Mohammad Salman, after Kamran Akmal was dropped for his World Cup performances.
